Evocative artworks that capture the memory and sense of place.
A self taught painter with a lifelong love of drawing, I gain inspiration from the natural environment and from painting outdoors on location.
Working in oil and pastel, my art is a response to the connection and emotion evoked by the natural world, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect on its beauty.
A childhood immersed in nature and over two decades living on Kangaroo Island has shaped my reverence for the ocean and love of painting water, a favourite subject and continuous thread in my work.
Belinda Dorey
Working in oil on canvas and pastel on paper, Belinda Dorey is a painter with a lifelong love of drawing. Water and light remain a constant source of beauty and inspiration, as does her connection to the natural world and painting outdoors on location.
Best known for her evocative artworks depicting atmospheric light-filled coastal scenes and the transparent qualities of water that transport the viewer to a location or moment in time.
“Through my paintings I hope to express the love I have for our oceans, nature and the effect of light on land and water, reminding the viewer of its beauty and their own connection to it”
Belinda has been painting full-time since 2021. A two-time finalist in the Hunter Emerging Artist Prize and Newcastle Club Foundation Art Prize, she is currently an exhibiting member of the Newcastle artists’ run collective Make Space at The Station.
