Swimming in the ocean is like therapy for many people. There's definately something very healing about getting a daily dose of salt water, sea air and sunshine. This painting of an early morning lapper was created for an exhibition to celebrate the one hundred year anniversary of Newcastle's Ocean Baths.
Being a keen swimmer myself, creating this painting became like therapy for me as I recovered from hip surgery. A couple of weeks after the operation I was back in the studio, channeling all the salty air goodness and ocean feels I could muster through the medium of oil paint. It was definately the next best thing to being back in the water and I'm certain it helped speed up my recovery.
Original oil on board 62cm x 62cm ready to hang in a hand made float frame of Tasmanian oak. Tasmanian oak comes from sustainable and environmentally responsible sources and is FSC and PEFC certified.
