One of Newcastle’s naturally sheltered swimming spots and a truly beautiful rock pool. This heritage listed sea baths were hand hewn out of a wave cut rock platform by convicts in 1819 for the personal use of Major Morisset. At times the waves and swell surge over the rock ledge. At other times it’s a serene green pool. Always the same, but always different, it remains a favourite swimming hole of many locals, me included.
This piece is the original painting from which limited edition prints were reproduced. The prints have sold out.
