Framed original oil on canvas 73cm x 53cm. Ready to hang in a handmade float frame of Tasmanian oak timber. Tasmanian oak comes from sustainable and environmentally responsible sources and is FSC and PEFC certified.
The inspiration for this cloudscape came on a cold afternoon in June, as I walked around the grassy hill at Fort Scratchley overlooking Nobbys Beach and the Newcastle Ocean Baths.
I was enjoying the fresh air and the fleeting patches of blue sky after days of relentless rain.
It had been a sad month, the sudden loss of a family member and a dear friend, both gone far too young.
Suddenly a ray of sunshine broke through the clouds and lit everything up.
It lasted only a few seconds, but it was enough to remind me that the sun, like hope and happiness, is always there, waiting to reappear.
