Today the Hunter River, is one of the worlds largest coal ports. Long before that the area was known to the Worimi and Awabakal people as Yohaaba. An estuary wilderness that supported human life and many species of fish, flora and fauna.
This painting is something a little different for me, but so iconically Newcastle. I have such admiration for those mighty little tug boats, that guide the huge ships from the open sea safely into port. This scene halloed by the setting sun caught my eye late one afternoon as it lit up this hum of activity.
