Artists statement:
Although having had a lifelong fear of drowning, it seems a little ironic that in recent years water has saved me in many ways.
In 2020 when unable to walk after a back injury, swimming and walking in water were a lifeline back to health and mobility.
Unable to work at my usual job, I began to paint. Swimming and painting became incredibly healing.
Immersing myself in water, literally or through oil paint always brings me peace and joy.
For me this painting represents the healing power of sunshine, saltwater, and the positive effects of negative ions.
